Karram: "The Pope's words on unity challenge us too"

The President of the Focolare movement writes to Davide Prosperi on the anniversary of Fr. Giussani's death: "The Holy Spirit will know how to make us capable of bearing witness to Christ with the specific charism entrusted entrusted to us in the Church.”

Rocca di Papa, 14 February 2024

Dear Davide Prosperi,

I was very happy to read the letter that Pope Francis wished to address to you on the occasion of the 19th anniversary of the death of Fr. Luigi Giussani and the 70th anniversary of Communion and Liberation, after the private audience with His Excellency Monsignor Filippo Santoro.

My heart rejoices in noting his affectionate closeness and the esteem he has for you, members and adherents of CL, confirming and encouraging you to continue the work undertaken in this period to make your work of evangelisation and charity ever more fruitful and faithful to the original inspiration, particularly among the young and in the cultural sphere.

On these anniversaries, I send you my warmest congratulations, and that of the Focolare Movement.

Let us thank God together for the great gift to the Church that is Fr. Giussani's life and teaching, more relevant today than ever before.

We too allow ourselves to be challenged by the Holy Father's words to care for unity among all, with ever renewed mutual love, to make room for the Holy Spirit. He will know how to make us capable of bearing witness to Christ with the specific charism entrusted to us in the Church and in the world for the good of the human family.

United in fraternal communion, commitment and prayer,

Margaret Karram
